Thank you for being a leader, one of the first 173 people to support my forthcoming book Change Everything: Common Sense Politics for the Age of Shocks.
I stress your leadership role because one of my key messages is that to tackle the multiple crises confronting us we need many people to step up. We need everyone to do politics, not have it done to them.
To help to spread the message, I've made a snazzy little video - which you should be able to see above, or through the link (with professional help, thanks Joe, otherwise known as Flubberfish on fivver) . It talks about three fallacies pervading our current politics: that we need growth, that people's lives must be defined by paid work, and that competition gets us ahead, rather than cooperation.
I've posted it on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. If you're able to share that through any of those, or your own channels, and encourage more people to sign up, that would be hugely appreciated.
Change Everything is now 30% funded. We got there in three weeks, which included the festive season.
Would be great to see if we could speed up now the world is getting back to work to get to 50% in the next week. Every social media share, every tweet, every conversation with a friend, colleague or classmate can help with that.
I keep spreading the ideas of #ChangeEverything (yes I've decided to make it a hash tag too) through many other means, including my New Year's wish for a universal basic income in The House magazine, and a discussion of how to democratise creative and academic endeavours (as Unbound does) on Yorkshire Bylines. And there's more on the way.
Thanks again!
Natalie
