Hi all, Johnny Greenteeth here with a little update.
The days are getting colder, the nights grow longer and Samhain is approaching.
This is a time when spirits are abroad and the gateways to the otherworld are open. Alongside the various rituals and practices associated with this festival there is also an enormous wealth of folk tales and mythology set at this time.
Amongst the pages of Folk Year you will find some of these tales, told in my own words and accompanied by illustrations. One such story is that of Nera from Irish mythology, his story involves him giving a piggyback to a mischievous gallows corpse, the burning of a great hall by an army of the Aossí (the elves of Irish myth) and a trip into an otherworld paradise. I have included a couple of the illustrations for this below.
Have a fruitful Samhain, however you celebrate it, and I'll be back in your inbox with more updates soon.
