I have now received a PDF with 48 favourite machines for inclusion in the book. The results are, shall we say, "interesting"!?!? :)

With a comparatively small sample set there was always the opportunity for lesser-known machines to be well represented. I hoped there'd be a Dragon 32 and a Jupiter Ace - and I got them. I wanted a Sinclair QL - and I got one. But there was only one mention of a ZX Spectrum in the whole list, yet two for the Netronics Elf - wow!

(The four votes to see the Commodore 64 in there, however, was not a surprise.)

When the UK heatwave stops melting my keyboard (and my brain) I shall be ordering all the machines into sequences that form twisty little passages between various other sections in the book!
