Hello lovely book lovers!

Well, I am finally coming up for air after handing in the first structural edit. What an intense but fascinating and enjoyable experience that was (ok, not always so enjoyable and occasionally a little ‘confronting’ but that’s all part of the authorial curve :)  I did love being back with my characters again and it was fun to create some new material for them and to dive into their worlds once more.

There was also much motivation to be found in various news stories that seemed most synchronous and apropos, for example the marvellous “Cheddar Man “adventure! This all fed into my feeling that the story is aligning very much with the Zeitgeist. My 'Sarah' character would find that most auspicious. My 'Dr Kluft' would probably go bothering poor old Charlie Darwin again with another letter.

Time, as ever, remains the greatest challenge, as I’m effectively working double/triple shifts all things considered, but I’m hoping that we are still on course for an early summer launch. Obviously no promises as there are lots of factors at play, not least bowing to the greater wisdom of my lovely publisher when it comes to ideal timings :)

The next steps will be a review of my first edit and any further necessary adjustments, followed by the copy edit (in case, in all my excitement, I have forgotten what tense it is never mind what day) and then the proofing (I am no great friend of the keyboard, after all) and book layout etc.

What I’m most looking forward to, however, is the design stage and seeing what the award-nominated clever folk who create Unbound’s book covers come up with for me. As some of you will be aware, I do have both a personal and professional interest in design after all!

Thanks again for all your support (and patience) it is deeply appreciated.
