“In such a weird fractured fragmented time, I hope these essays can bring you some warmth, some resilience” says co-editor Tara Joshi about her essay for our 'Haramacy' book.
A little over a year ago, we got together with Dhruva Balram and Tara Joshi to commission writers for our 'Haramacy' anthology of essays. Dhruva and Tara spent the early months of the pandemic editing, rewriting and working closely with writers from the Middle East, South Asia, and the diaspora to hone personal stories on belonging, family, fracture, grief, and more.
As Summer approaches, and lockdown measures ease (in the UK), it seems that there may be light at the end of the tunnel. In parallel, our book is almost at the finish line with a little over 25% left to achieve our funding goal. What’s more, 550 copies of 'Haramacy' have been pre-ordered to date, something we could have never imagined this time last year! With a final hurdle to get over, we are toggling between excitement and nervousness to meet our funding goal. The one thing that remains a constant though is our gratitude to everyone who has supported us throughout, however and whenever they could.
