What Happens Next?

I hope it won't be too long before you get an email like this. But for those supporters who haven't pledged for another book and who might like to know what the process entails, here's the email I got today about one of the books I'm supporting, now fully funded. It's a simple and brilliant idea: Lucy went round the world discovering for herself what makes teaching a success in different cultures. Lucy told me about it at Unbound's crowdfunding seminar, where we were given advice on how to run a good campaign. It was obvious to me that her book would gain lots of support, with an easy to grasp concept and great title: and as a fellow teacher I knew she'd be able to write engagingly.

Cleverlands - 10 steps to getting a book published at Unbound

Dear Suzie

Thank you again for supporting Cleverlands.

Like all good things, a great deal of time and attention goes into getting a book published. So whilst Lucy finishes the manuscript, we want to share what happens after a project reaches its target.

Here are the steps we’ll be going through over the next year or so to get this brilliant book published:

1. Funding target reached (Done - thanks again for your support)

2. Author delivers final draft of the manuscript

3. Editor starts work on the manuscript with the author

4. Book cover/artwork design begins

5. Copy editor reviews manuscript for consistency

6. Typesetter formats manuscript for printing

7. First proofs come back and are sent to the proofreader

8. Final edits are made

9. Artwork finalised

10. Final manuscript goes to press

Keep an eye out for more updates letting you know how the book is getting on. And if you’ve got any particular questions about the process please let us know.

Thanks once again for your support; we couldn’t make this book without you.
