Hello everyone!
It's been awhile since my last check-in. The graphic novel is currently being designed, so there isn't very much for me to talk about or work on, as most of the heavy lifting is in the design team's hands now. They are busy assembling the pages into a digital preview of the book.
A special thing that I can show you all is the slight redesign of the cover. With the help of a design template and some feedback, I've updated the artwork, mostly to replace the simple roses at the front into an elaborate arabesque of Ottoman-style embroidery flowers, cleaned up the Ushak rug medallions that form the back cover, and adjusted some things here and there.
This isn't the final cover by the way, as some things might be shifted or added. I'm playing with the idea of drawing gold filigree on the spine; something that I can only do once the backers list is finalised and subsequently, the width of the spine is confirmed. I may even extend the embroidery to the back. But what you see now is simply a chef's sampling of what's to come.
To note, there's a bleed (extra space) along the perimeter, indicated by the white lines, so when the cover is cut to size the artwork that you see will be cropped. It won't destroy the aesthetic of the book, and I'm positive that when this finally gets into your hands, it'll be one of the nicest looking comic books. That is the plan anyway.
Hopefully an update soon! Until then,
Reimena
