Time to Edit Salt Lick

Dear Backers of Salt Lick

I am pleased to say that Salt Lick has come back from the editor with some fantastic comments and, as your backing has made this book a joint venture, I wanted to share some of them with you:

"My overall impression is that this an extremely accomplished piece of work, written with the skill of a poet and the imagination of Sarah Moss or Andrew Michael Hurley. It is both vividly poetic and intense, eerie and disturbing – a genuinely original imagining of what shape a post-pandemic world might take [...] Questions you raise regarding the basis of identity and what binds human beings to one another – nature or nurture – are hugely emotive, as is the examination of a human desire for revenge vs healing. The text steers a clever line between the heightened, lyrical descriptions of a world reclaimed by nature and the poignancy of loss, physical and metaphorical, both on a personal and a more human scale.[...] it is an incredibly gratifying read – beautifully written, original and thought-provoking."

I'm really delighted with what the editor has said. There is a bit of work to do now, as she has made one quite thought-provoking suggestions about how I could change things, so I have my thinking cap on as to whether I will implement it. It's a fab way to be busy during lockdown.

I hope you are all keeping well,

Best wishes,

Lulu
