Hello again, everyone!
After an enjoyable and hectic week (half-vacation, half work), I'm done with traveling for a long while, and ready to jump back into writing. In a last salute to the constant jetting and driving around that tends to mark many vacations, and another to the myriad (writing) places I've gone without moving farther than my keyboard, I share with you for this week's song the classic traveling gem I've Been Everywhere, as sung by Johnny Cash (Usual copyrights apply; I own nothing!)
Like his rendition of Sixteen Tons, Cash's version of this song became a favorite of mine not long after first hearing it as a kid. Though I haven't been to all the place it mentions (in the real or writing world), I've traveled across much of the U.S. and to points around the world, and hugely enjoyed every trip--and gotten plenty of inspiration from some of the most recent! Needless to say, this song was at the top of my music list through all these journeys, and would often give me the lift I needed to get through some delay or other in the real or world world.
I'll be sticking to familiar territory for the next round of work starting this week (mainly Bloody Relations edits and a few last-minute new ideas, as mentioned), but there'll be plenty of similar labor on Cross & Flag coming down the pipeline as well, before wrapping up the summer's writing at the end of this month. TRULY new work on Dixie Curtain will start not long after, once the transition back to PhD work for the Fall is done. Though I obviously won't have the same amount of time for writing as I do now, I've found this to be a good thing at times, given that it clears out all distractions--including other story ideas that can often crowd out those needed for the draft at hand. The pledge drive event for Discarded on FB is still up until Friday of this week, so I've reattached the link here; please consider joining in, or passing the word to family, friends and fellow writers! I'll have more news on BR especially, for my next post, and any other updates will be shared on my FB, Twitter and other author pages; until then, as ever, keep sharing, commenting and reviewing!
