This Week's Tune (7/23)

Good day, everyone!

If there's any delay in this post on your end(s), it's due to the continuing flow of work that's kept me occupied the past week; so much so, in fact, that I've occasionally gotten hung up on one new idea or another, thus delaying the draft project, and my news to you and the rest of the Outside World. In honor of this stimulating (and often frustrating) situation, which I've encountered on many a project (and in the hope of pulling my foucs back on the right path), I share with you for this week's song Life is a Highway by Tom Cochrane. (Usual copyrights apply; I own nothing!)

The first time I heard this song was as part of the Driving Mix playlist given to me by my sister Emily. While I didn't know much of Cochrane at the time (and still don't, for the most part), this single quickly became one of the quintessential road trip songs on that playlist and among my music in general. These days, now that I'm more aware and mature (of course :P), I've come to see it as yet another expression of the trials and joys that come with going after any particular passion (traveling, performing, writing) or just going through life as a whole. It's reminded me not to stay closed off from the world, even when a draft demands it, and that there's always ways around the (literal and metaphorical) blocks in the road.

The latest blocks (mostly of my own making), I'm happy to say, are fast eroding as of tonight. The new middle act sections for Bloody Relations are a tad behind schedule, but I plan to have them finished by no later than this weekend, and I'll be burning the midnight oil wherever needed to make that happen. Work on the concluding chapters will depend on when the former are finished, although thankfully I've got a rough outline ready that's got wiggle room if something doesn't work (i.e. looks like crap when actually on paper :) ). I've also decided, after long and careful thought, to submit my Civil War What-If novella For State & Country to the audiobook publisher Wordwooze, in accordance with the offer mentioned in my most recent Wordpress post. I've never gone through this type of process, so I'm a tad nervous; if anybody's got pointers, don't hesitate to share! No guarantees as yet, but if the book is accepted, I'll have one more audience--and maybe more of my collection in the audiobook pipeline soon after! More updates on this and the BR draft to come next week, like always; in the meantime, keep on sharing, reviewing and commenting!
