Good Monday evening, everyone!
If this post seems a bit late, I have a very good excuse: As of about half an hour ago (WI Time), my latest Alternate History ebook & paperback work, Divided Worlds, has been posted to Amazon Kindle, and should be available within the next day or two! This story has gone through more edits and redesigns than I can remember (or care to :) ), and stretches all the way back to a VERY rough idea in high school, that came together from the endless hours I spent reading scifi and history of every kind--sometimes both, in the same sitting. To celebrate this work FINALLY crossing the finish line (and to acknowledge one of its key sources of inspiration), I share with you the "Re-Entry/Splashdown" music from the movie soundtrack Apollo 13, by the late James Horner (Usual copyrights apply; I own nothing!).
Though I still haven't (as yet) officially added this soundtrack to my collection of such, the whole of the movie's music (and this section in particular) never fails to strike a chord whenever I hear it :P. The middle of this track (during the agonizing wait for re-contact) is especially haunting, and makes the tense, epic and ecstatic sections all the more enjoyable. Here and now, this track seems to best epitomize the long, sometimes grueling journey Divided Worlds has led me on, with the ever-present fear of running into blind alleys, or collapsing altogether and leaving me too despairing and depressed to try again, on it or any other draft. Instead, I've managed to pull it out of the morass of doubt and endless edits, and now it will soon be before the world.
The official Kindle and paperback links should be coming to me shortly; I'll be posting them on my Wordpress, FB and Twitter feeds the second they do. Check them out and pick up your own copy if you wish, or pass the word along to anybody looking for new scifi...and put in a word for Discarded, too!
