This Week's Tune (10/29)

Hello, once more!

With Halloween just a couple days away (and my feeling somewhat nostalgic of late), some fun yet dark music seemed appropriate. Therefore, as the song for this week, I give you the outstanding This Is Halloween by Danny Elfman, from the soundtrack to the Tim Burton classic The Nightmare Before Christmas (Usual copyrights apply; I own nothing!)

Although it feels a tad overused at times (thanks to all the annoying merchandise that seems to have flooded the world the last few years), I've come to enjoy this movie a great deal since rediscovering it a couple of years ago, and the music even more so, to the point where some of the best (this one, the Oogie Boogie track, Jack's Lament, and Poor Jack) have often gotten stuck in my head for months at a time. Nowadays, when this time of year rolls around, whether or not I'm working on any horror-themed drafts (murder mystery, pandemic, zombie apocalypse, to name just a few), I constantly queue up this and the other tunes, in keeping with the "holiday" setting, or just for a few laughs when I need a distraction or boost in the current project.

There'll be little time for distractions soon enough, though plenty of boosts will still be needed. Following a costume kick-off party on the 31st, it's nothing but NaNoWriMo for the whole of November! The outline work for my chosen draft, All Eyes, is effectively done: the characters and essential plot elements are done, and I'm leaving plenty of space for the story to change as needed. Didn't get as far with additional work on Dixie Curtain as I wanted this past weekend, but I should have the rest down by tomorrow or Halloween day at the latest. The sale period for my published Kindle works is still in effect until that day, too, and I also still have several promo codes for FREE copies of the For State & Country audiobook. Check these out on Amazon if you're in the mood for new fiction, or a Halloween present (the links are included on my Twitter feed, WIwriter88); other than that, stand by for a month of NNWM updates, and keep on commenting, sharing, and reviewing!
