The Good Immigrant Turns One. What Next?

Hello

Today, we launch 'The Good Journal', a year to the day after 'The Good Immigrant' came out.

A year ago, 'The Good Immigrant' came out in shops. Because of you.

It became a bestseller. Because of you.

It was all over social media. Because of you.

It won an award voted for by readers. Because of you.

People wanted more. Because of you. Because of the contributors. Because they were still hungry.

So thank you, firstly, a year on, for being part of the original crowdfunder. You made this happen.

If you're wondering what happens next?

Loads of people asked for a second 'The Good Immigrant'. And so instead of doing another volume, we decided to do a literary journal, quarterly, of writings from writers of colour from Britain. And we've expanded it so that it's more than nonfiction essays about race and immigration. This time we're looking for essays, short stories, poems, extracts from novels. Each issue will be a mixture of established writers and unknowns (once fully funded we will do an open call for submissions). Some of the established writers signed up for the four issues are Kamila Shamsie, Sanjeev Bhasker, Emma-Lee Moss (Emmy The Great), Susan Wokoma, Niven Govinden, Danielle Dash, Bridget Minamore, Bolu Babalola and Sunny Singh.

It's gonna be ace. The kickstarter is here

Please do share it with anyone you think would be interested.

Thank you, as ever, for every single atom of support. You are amazing. Thank you.
