Hi everyone!
As many of you might now, I used to present a radio show from a community centre in a local town. I usually had the late shift, doing my show from 8pm until 10pm. I would have gone on until midnight some nights, but strict licensing rules meant no broadcasting after 10pm. We often joked that there was a ghost in the building, as it would feel quite spooky and presenters would feel a little vulnerable on our own in the building late at night. So, what if, I wondered, there was a reason? What if staying in the building after 10pm would entail an encounter with the ghost? That was the basis for my latest short story, 'Radio Waves'. Along with the other stories that I've recently published here online, 'The Ghost of Christmas Never' and 'The Shop That Sold Time', it will be part of what I'm currently calling 'Calendar of Ghosts'. These are all very much first drafts and may undergo some revisions for the final book, but I'm not publishing many more online, saving them for the book. However! If you'd like to sign up to my newsletter, you'll get a free PDF of 'Radio Waves' to what your appetite. Just email me at mrcobleywriter@yahoo.com and I'll add you to the list. I'm hoping to send out the first e-mail newsletter in the next few days.
I'm cautiously revealing details as we go, but I'm proud to announce that I'm part of a new publishing venture. Our first title is to be 'Taking Liberties', an anthology of short stories from a variety of writers of distinction, including me.
It would be wonderful, if you're intrigued enough, to have as many pre-orders as possible for the Kindle edition, which is now up on Amazon. We will have news about the paperback edition soon. In the meantime, here's the link to 'Taking Liberties'...
My story is called 'Eutierria' and is inspired by a walk in the woods some time ago, when the dog and I came across a framed photograph of a middle-aged couple wrapped in plastic and lying next to a cross made from twigs, as if it were marking a grave (see picture below). Somewhat strange. Pre-order 'Taking Liberties' and see what I did with it...
