So, we're 57% funded and lurching towards the 60% mark and ... dare I hope ... 66% and 2/3rds of the way there. Progress is steady but very slow. It's difficult to know what else I can do to gee up the funding. Obviously, keep telling people if you can - you early subscribers have to wait the longest so it's in your interests too to get new people pledging.
£10 buys a digital edition - that's the cost of a pizza.
£20 gets you a beautifully produced hardback and a digital edition - that's about the price of a Chinese or a not great Indian takeaway.
Anyhoo ... enough with the begging. Here's another great problem solving story from Africa.
A project in Nigeria is using plastic bottles to build houses. The plastic bottles help to lower the cost of building and by clearing empty bottles, it helps the environment too. The bottles are picked up off the streets and collected from rubbish dumps.
You fill the bottles with sand and then lay them on top of each other, tying them together with string.
Then you pack the whole thing with mud or clay which dries very quickly.
The developers claim the buildings can withstand earthquakes and bullets.
The project also creates job opportunities for those that are unemployed. A house made of plastic bottles costs a third of a normal house. This an idea for anyone looking to build a house in Africa cheaply.
