No one ever got sent on a linear thinking course

Last Autumn I was honoured to be invited to do a TEDx talk at the UK IPO (Intellectual Property Office) in Newport, Wales. I was sharing the stage with:

Alex Aiken - Executive Director for Government Communications,

Alex Drummond - Activist, academic, artist, photographer and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.

Andy Green - Expert on creativity, public relations strategy, brand and personal communications and author.

Denise Hampson - Behavioural economist, author and former member of the Great Britain Track Cycling Team (the most successful British sporting team in history).

Kitrina Douglas - Motivation and well-being expert and former professional golfer. Twice Women's European Masters Champion and English Open Champion.

Rev Aled Edwards OBE - Chair of Displaced People in Action, one of Wales' most active asylum and refugee organisations, and former Welsh Commissioner for the Commission for Racial Equality (2006-7).

Stephen Clarke - Chief Finance Officer of the Bristol Pound Community Interest Company. He is also on the core team for delivering the Bristol Prospects project.

Quite a line-up.

The overall theme of the day was social capital and the power of people working together. My talk was all about problem solving and how it's vitally important to engage a range of thinkers - not just creatives.
