‘Beautifully written’ ‘powerful fiction’ ‘a work of art’ ‘brave and moving’ ‘compelling’ ’5/5’
Yes, they are talking about Bone Lines and those are just some of the advance comments. Woo hoo!
Dear lovely supporters, after a rather longer than expected wait books will be on their way shortly after they've arrived in the Unbound warehouse. (I won’t bore you the details, but it seems Unbound has grown so quickly it needed to restructure and rearrange a few logistics, and changes can take a while to bed in.) E-book patrons will get theirs zapped over the ether first, hopefully this Friday. First edition paperbacks have to be printed and transported by fallible human hands and so it will be *sometime next week* - don’t wait in but do please get stuck in as soon as you can, because...
It seems that in this brave new webby world of ours, for a book to succeed, the digital punter’s review is EVERYTHING. Though good old analogue word of mouth works very well too. And while I know nobody has a minute of time, if you should suddenly find yourself with some, and are not already signed up to goodreads, or likely to review stuff on Amazon or are a member of an online Facebook type book club, then please consider signing up, as that means you will be able to leave hopefully lovely (but honest, of course) recommendations for Bone Lines when it is ‘officially’ out on September 19th!
By virtue of the esoteric mysteries of algorithms etc., online reviews – of any kind – really help authors, especially the debut indie press variety. Also, it’s very straightforward to review, in most cases. Just search the book, click a few stars, dash off a few heartfelt words, or post in a forum page according to that group’s guidelines. As many or as few words as you fancy, though ‘I liked/loved/loathed this’ is sufficient.
If the latter, however, it’s always useful to know why? (Why, why, oh why?) No need for any essays or blistering insights, unless so inclined. But please consider getting in there with your thoughts to balance out the trolls, who, it seems are everywhere these days, review pages especially. Though please don’t take umbrage with or comment on anyone else’s review. Mark as ‘unhelpful’ if it’s just silly, but reading is so subjective and everyone is entitled to their opinion – and what’s more, loads of comment only pushes the one-star brigade’s efforts to the top of the page.
Oh, and if you'd like take a selfie with the book or a lovely shot of your pet posing artfully with Bone Lines (a stuffed toy will substitute) please do, and please send / post to social media, tagging me!
In other news, my website/blog is now live at: www.stephaniebretherton.com and there are some tales from the road to becoming an author and about the book cover design process – and some nice incentives for signing up to my mailing list, so do please have a look.
What more can I say, my lovelies except, again, THANK YOU!
