My dear friend Joanna Pieters, who used to be editor of The Strad magazine, now has her own creative life-coaching company. She has recently launched a series of podcasts in which she quizzes creative types from all fields about how and why they do what they do.
Since I've been finding the discussions absolutely riveting, I was tickled pink to be included. And I found her asking me about matters ranging from my general attitude to the Great Unknown to my secret dreams of having a normal existence instead (being e.g. a plumber...) - and why this great concept of living a creative life requires large doses of practicality if it's ever going to happen.
Like Rossini, who once allegedly said he liked composing because he could do it in bed, one reason I like being a self-employed writer is that I can work from home, don't have to struggle with rush-hour trains and don't face office politics other than growling spats between my two feline friends.
But...yeah, OK, there is quite a bit more to it than that...
Find the podcast here. And have fun exploring Joanna's other intriguing interviews on site here.
