Festive philosophical greetings! (Feat. pet pictures)

Festive greetings, friends! Another year is drawing to an end, bells are ringing, we’ve got Michael Bublé, the Pogues and all the rest on repeat, and grandparents everywhere are preparing to blame their post-Christmas dinner farts on our faithful dogs. It’s *that* time of year.

At these moments it’s generally accepted that we take a moment to look back on the year just gone; and for us, 2021 has been a truly remarkable year – after all, it’s the year Philosophers’ Dogs was officially published! It was a long old road to get here but we are so grateful to everyone of our brilliant supporters who helped make this book a reality. Since the book launched in November, it has been utterly surreal – but also totally brilliant – to keep stumbling upon copies of our book for sale in bookstores like Foyles, Waterstones and Blackwells in shops right across the UK.

What has been equally special is seeing our brilliant supporters (that’s you!) sharing pictures of your book in your homes from around the world. Not only that; it’s been excellent to see Philosophers’ Dogs in the paws of dogs themselves – and even the occasional cat!

Below, we’ve put together a small collection of some of our favourite pics that you’ve sent us of Philosophers’ Dogs being studied by our faithful pets. We hope you all enjoy them as much as we did.

First up, we have the wonderfully stoic Gerry curled up with our book! (Pic credit goes to Laura Watson - @Laura_Watson10)

Next up is our philosophical friend, Gizmo, nosing through Philosophers' Dogs (credit goes to Gizmo and his owners via

We EVEN seem to have some philosophical cats in our midst. Here we have Pearl perusing the teachings of Barkus Aurelius and considering whether it accurately fits with her own feline philosophy. (Pic courtesy of Zsuzsanna Ujhelyi

Please do keep sending in your pics of Philosophers' Dogs in the wild - you can reach us at @PhilosophyDogs on Twitter and @Philosopher_Dogs on instagram.

Our Christmas wish

We do have one more favour to ask of all you brilliant folk. For newly published books, receiving customer reviews on places like Amazon, Waterstones and Goodreads are absolutely invaluable for helping us get the philosophical thoughts of our four-legged friends more widely known. So please, if you’re able to leave a review and rating on these websites for our book, we would be so immensely grateful.

In the words of Mariah Carey – all we want for Christmas, is book reviews!
