Fear not, I am not going to inflict a blog post on you every single day - that would be a cruel and unusual punishment when you have been so kind as to pledge already.
But this is the first day that the Lido Guide has been live with unbound, and I am really heartened, and more than a little touched, by the support all of you, our very first pledgers, have shown us.
Janet and I have both felt, for quite some time, that this is a book that needs to be written. We want the last remaining publicly accessible pools in the UK to thrive and survive. And that means helping people to use them, to end the culture of the 'well kept secret'. We thought other people would feel the same, would want to know where these pools in order to use them more readily.
But I definitely felt a little sick, when I got the email from the lovely people at unbound telling us that the pledge site was live. It is that 'I'm giving a party but what if nobody comes' sort of feeling.
And you, you lovely people, have arrived bang on time and bearing good things. You have all lifted my heart, and I am thankful for the support you have shown us right here... on day one.
Oh, and by the way, the only other shed in my life lets in water, stores a ramshackle collection of broken bikes and lawnmowers and is half full of kindling. The kindling is not compatible with the leaking, if I'm honest. But what I am trying to say is that I'm not a shed expert, so do bear with me while I find my way!
