Be guid tae yer Mammy won Scots Book of the Year 2022!!!
I can't believe it. I was literally speechless at the award ceremony because it was such a battle to get the book published. The fact that it's ended up an award-winner is more than I could have ever dreamed of. It all began here, so this is where I will end my thanks.
Thank you to John Mitchinson and everyone at Unbound for being so patient with this book. It was worth it in the end. And thank you to everyone who supported the book. It was only right that I thanked absolutely everyone.
This is just the start for me. The Tongue She Speaks will be hitting the shelves on October 13, and I can't wait for everyone to read my book about a dreamer, a poet and a punk band. It's the Glaswegian Almost Famous, and while it's very different from Mammy, I think you can tell that I was confident this time around. The second wean is always easier than your firstborn, but ah cannae complain as mine ended up an award-winner despite a painful labour.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
P.S. The Tongue She Speaks will be officially launched in Sauchiehall Street Waterstones on October 18 with special guests Iona Fyfe and Michael Dempster. Tickets are available here: https://www.waterstones.com/events/emma-grae-launches-the-tongue-she-speaks/glasgow-sauchiehall-street
