By mise (Gaelic for: me)
Lots of people have written about the small, rolling hill country county of Monaghan, including Patrick Kavanagh and Eugene McCabe.
There have been others – including Hugh Barney McGlone of Magheracloone Cross – whose local history Monaghan: An Enigmatic X-Ray 1648-1988 is of no significance, given the fact that it doesn’t exist.
Neither, in fact, does Hugh Barney (‘proud Monaghan man to the last!’) – but the Chicago-born writer (Motherland, Light, I Could Read the Sky) most certainly does – and now it is my privilege to acquaint you all with the fact that he has written (this is genuine!) a stunning new novel which is now, this very minute, funding up on the Unbound site. Its subtitle is A
LETTER TO MY WIFE. It’s title is MONAGHAN.
MONAGHAN: A LETTER TO MY WIFE is a piece of art unique unto itself. Wanna be part of it, guys? Give it a look anyway – for you all certainly brought me across the line, and I think it’s the least I can do for you all.
MONAGHAN: A LETTER TO MY WIFE by TIMOTHY O’ GRADY.
It’s up there now: https://unbound.com/books/monaghan.
