Dear friends.
I wanted to let you know that your copies of Diary of Losing Dad are now waiting at the warehouse and will start to be sent out from next week. Many of you may have forgotten that you even ordered the book, so perhaps this will come as a nice surprise. When it arrives, please immediately turn to the back and look for your name in the supporters list. You are very much a part of this story.
It will be exciting and nervewracking that you will finally have the book in your hands. I wonder what you will think. It is quite strange reading it back (as I did yet again yesterday)... because it is '8 years ago Emily' who wrote it. She wasn't in the best place. Reading it again, I am also struck by how very 'Dad' alot of my expressions are. Perhaps those of you who knew him will notice that too? I hope, whatever you think, that you will find things in there that resonate. Despite the book's themes, I hope it makes you smile and at times, laugh.
This morning I had the huge honour of being a guest on Lauren Laverne's show on BBC 6 Music. I talk about the book and she plays 5 songs that I was listening to at the time of writing. I attach a recording of the interview below if you would like to listen.
The various pledges will all be fulfilled in the coming months. I am planning the evening of music and poetry in April... which will be combined with a (slightly late... thank you Covid) book launch.
More soon. Thank you so much again for your support thus far.
Lots of love. Emily x
