Stuart Walton

Stuart Walton writes on cultural history and philosophy, and is also a book critic and novelist. His publications include In the Realm of the Senses: A Materialist Theory of Seeing and Feeling, Intoxicology: A Cultural History of Drink and Drugs, A Natural History of Human Emotions, Introducing Theodor Adorno, and a novel, The First Day in Paradise. A work of food history, The Devil's Dinner: A Gastronomic and Cultural History of Chili Peppers, is published in October 2018 by St Martin's Press. He lives in Torquay, where the beaches are much cleaner than the consciences.
