Michael Carroll won the 2015 Sue Kaufman Prize for First Fiction from the American Academy of Arts and Letters for his collection, 'Little Reef and Other Stories'. His fiction has appeared in the Yale Review, Open City, Ontario Review, Southwest Review and a number of anthologies, including 'Speak My Language' (ed. Torsten Hojer; Robinson) and 'The New Penguin Book of Gay Short Stories' (eds David Leavitt and Mark Mitchell). He is completing his second book, 'Pretend I Wasn’t Here: A Personal Narrative', about middle age homosexuality, and his relationship with Edmund White. He teaches a fiction workshop in the summer program of John Cabot University.Together with the writer and filmmaker, Brian Alessandro, he is at work on a graphic novel version of 'A Boy’s Own Story' by Edmund White.
