Colin Grant is an author and Associate Fellow in the Centre for Caribbean Studies. His books include: 'Negro with a Hat: The Rise and Fall of Marcus Garvey' and 'I & I, The Natural Mystics'. His memoir of Caribbean life in 1970s England, 'Bageye at the Wheel', was shortlisted for the Pen/Ackerley Prize 2013. As a BBC producer, Grant has written drama documentaries including 'A Fountain of Tears: The Murder of Federico Garcia Lorca'. He is a tutor of creative writing for Arvon and City University, London, and has written for the Guardian, TLS, GQ and Granta.
