When you start crowdfunding for something as big as the print run of a book, the target amount can see dauntingly big. When you pass the halfway point, you slowly start to believe in what might come next. But when you cross the 80% mark, it really starts to feel real!
After two weeks of non-stop campaigning, I am very pleased to announce that we only have 17% left to raise. But I am even more proud to say that it is thanks to 176 individual people whom, like you, support this campaign as conscious news consumers. When I set out to write this book, I wanted to bring people together in the quest for a more constructive, healthy and balanced media diet. And here we are, gaining momentum together. I cannot thank you enough for being the pioneers who shared my mission from the beginning.
It was great to meet more of you this week, including at the London School of Economics (LSE) Media Department, where I was invited to talk to students. Instead of a speaking fee the department chose to support me by pledging a book bundle to share with professors and colleagues. If you’d like to do the same or have an employer or business that might, I would be delighted if you could share this page with them.
It was brilliant to see more endorsements on social media too, including by one of my favourite Swedish authors Johan Norberg, who wrote the enlightening book Progress.
And I sat down for an interview with Positive News magazine, in which I explain how my world view changed when I changed my media diet, and why we all have the power to do the same.
So, what’s next?
We do have to be realistic: there is still the significant sum of £1867 to raise in the next three weeks. But there is good news here too: as an army of 176 people, we can tackle this hurdle together.

1. SPREAD THE WORD

2. CONSIDER AN UPGRADE
Let me first and foremost say that I am eternally grateful for your pledges made to date. I’d never even think about asking your for anything else but some incredibly generous supporters have just upgraded their pledge and suggested I tell you about it. So if you do consider upgrading your pledge, for example by going from one book to the ‘Pay it Forward’ reward to include one extra copy as a gift for a friend, Unbound gives you the option to do so with just one click. When you login to your Unbound account, you will see a green button that says “upgrade or donate”.
I just want to place a side note here to let you know that any stand-alone ‘donations’ are subject to VAT, but the actual book pledges are not. So ‘upgrading’ from one to two books for example won’t add any VAT and means all the total goes towards the print run of the book.
