My Work Is Done...
My new website for You Are What You Read is up and running! On there, you can find a starter kit for increasing your intake of solutions journalism. I will also be sharing with you updates about the movement for a more constructive media and writing articles to inspire you and provide some mind fuel. Please sign up if you would like to be kept up to date. Please share with anyone that you think may be interested in joining.
On another note, the final proofed copy of our book has been handed back to Unbound this morning. This means that my writing for "You Are What You Read" has officially come to an end. I had the pleasure of writing my book acknowledgments yesterday to send back with the manuscript and it was a wonderful way to finish. Although you will have to wait until April next year to read the book, I wanted to share my thanks and acknowledgments with you today as it would not have been possible without each and every one of you.
This book would not have been possible to write without the wealth of researchers who have gone before me to investigate the impact of the news. I stand on their shoulders in order to share my insights with the world.
I also owe thanks to the pioneering news organisations that value and practice solutions journalism. It is by learning from them and their audience that I have been able to craft a collective experience from my own.
I would like to personally thank Danielle Batist, Michelle Gielan, Sean Dagen-Wood, Steven Pinker, David Bornstein and Ulrik Haargarup. It has been through your support, encouragement, and example that I have found my voice in the conversation for a more constructive media.
Thank you to everyone who has pledged for this book. When I set out to write this book, I wanted to bring people together in the quest for a more constructive, healthy and balanced media diet. And here we are, gaining momentum together. I cannot thank you enough for being the pioneers who shared my mission from the beginning.
Finally, I would like to thank my wonderful family and close friends for their support, shared excitement and patience. Thank you to my husband, Tariq, who has been an avid audience of one for more times than I can count and who has permanently loaned me his ears to test my words out loud. You can now have them back.
This book really is a team effort. I could not have done it alone, nor would I have wanted to. Thank you to all those who have helped me make this vision a reality.
I look forward to keeping each and every one of you up to date about the book and I would love to hear from you too! If you would like to get in touch, my email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you so much and looking forward to taking the next steps with you...
