So, football didn't come home after all then. It will be returning to Church Lane again really soon, though, which is why I'm getting in touch. Firstly, I'd like to say a huge, HUGE thank you to everyone who has pledged so far on this project. Your support is appreciated more than you know and every penny helps take this labour of love a little closer to publication.
Since going 'live' in late 2017, I've had some really positive conversations with potential funders and sponsors as well as football fans at all levels. What started out as a personal project to tell the true story behind a non-league football team has been one of the most unexpectedly exciting things I think I've ever done. However, there's no hiding that we're still a very long way off our target and converting that interest into pledges and momentum has been extremely tricky.
With that in mind, we've made the decision to switch this project from a Hardback publication to a Paperback. This isn't a decision we've taken lightly but it does present a whole host of advantages over continuing the project as it is currently, such as:
Naturally, this change means the book might be a slightly different product to the one you originally pledged towards if you're one of the wonderful people who've bought a Hardback edition. We can, of course, offer you the difference back if you like. However, as an Earlybird reward by way of thanks for your loyalty, if you do decide to maintain your £20 pledge for the Paperback edition, we'll upgrade your pledge to the new Add Your Own Word level (details in the new pledge levels). You'll get an email asking for your word once we hit 100%.
If you've selected the Digital version, this won't affect you directly but you will have the opportunity to pay a small amount to upgrade to the Paperback and Digital edition if you wish to. Just click 'Upgrade or Donate' to change to a higher pledge level. If you have any questions about any of this, just email email@example.com
I really hope you'll agree this is a positive move to getting a beautiful book about a wonderful club over the finish line and I'm going to be working flat out to reach the target as soon as possible so we can get the book to print and on a bookshelf, Kindle or other reading device near you ASAP. In the meantime, if you know someone who would love this book, please do send them the link and encourage them to sign up. My Nanna always used to say that many hands make light work but she was in middle management for many years so read into that what you will.
Thanks again - I'll give you another update really soon.
