In the late 1930s, a teenage Brian Aldiss, still some years away from embarking on a career as a novelist, wrote and illustrated a series of science fiction adventures starring the heroic Whip Donovan. These colourful and imaginative tales were the first signs of the fertile imagination that would go on to create such classics as Hothouse, Non-stop and the Helliconia Trilogy.
Missing, presumed lost, for the last 80 years, the original schoolbooks in which these stories were composed were recently rediscovered and have only ever been seen by a small group of family and friends. Until now.
Unbound are hugely proud to publish a facsimile edition of The Whip Donovan Adventures. Every page of every story recreated exactly as it looks in the original. This is a publication of great literary and historic importance. These stories are the earliest remaining works of a grand master of science fiction. They are also jolly good fun.
It looks like Brian Aldiss has not made any updates yet. Check back soon!
