With Underdogs 2 hovering at 90%, I'm calling today... "International Tell A Friend About Underdogs Day"!
The sequel may be doing extremely well (had it been given the same budget as the original, we'd be on 126% already), particularly given how many of the original novel's backers haven't had a moment to read it yet, but progress through the 90s is very slow. The difference could well be made by those who are completely new to the series.
Surprisingly, out of the current 323 backers for Underdogs 2 exactly 70 were not backers of the original, having come to learn about the series since. Many have even ordered both books together through this page! If this is you, thanks so much- without those who are new to the series, the sequel's progress would still be in the 70%ish region somewhere.
So with new readers making such a difference, this might be a great time to tell a friend about the Underdogs series! You can do this in the comfort of your own home by following these three steps:
1) Acquire a friend who might like neurodiverse character-driven dystopia, and ask them "have you heard of the Underdogs series?" If they answer "yes", let out a squeal of joy and progress to step three. If they answer "no" or "huh?", progress to step two.
2) Talk about Underdogs (preferably keeping it spoiler free)- mentioning facts such as the protagonists as being heroes from a special school playing to their strengths rather than being judged by their weaknesses, the Michael Grant/Steve Silberman endorsements, the rave reviews online, the 1,000+ Facebook community, the upcoming audiobook, the second print run just around the corner, and that the publisher said yes to Part 2 before the original even came out.
3) Mention that you can order both books together through this link. Also that they get their name printed in the book as a supporter if they pre-order, and that they would be directly helping it to get published! https://unbound.com/books/underdogs-tooth-and-nail
To those who actually do this, I really really appreciate it. Not only will your friend/s learn about a universe they may come to love, but they could play a direct role in the continuation of this series.
United by our differences,
PS- for those who haven't seen the short story "Ewan West Goes To Oakenfold", it's right here and exclusively visible to Underdogs 2's backers as a thank you.
And here, have a quote from the sequel. It's not related to this post, but it's a quote that I like.
