Grief, Joy and Spilled Rum at the World’s Death Festivals

Thursday, 15 August 2019

I got hit in the head by a corpse. That's just who I am now.

I am currently in Kyoto hiding from a typhoon, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to update you via the medium of VIDEO - complete with music and clips from the various death festivals. I didn't get footage of my getting hit in the head by someone's long-deceased relative – apologies.

Here it is. (Some links are showing copyright issues because of about 30 seconds of a song. Madness. If it won't play, try this link instead.)

Warning: though they're wrapped in shrouds, there are dead people in this video, as well as a couple of massive peaches that may shock some viewers. That's not a euphemism, I've just never seen a peach grow to that size.

Kyoto is the penultimate stop on my tour of the seven death festivals so it's NEARLY DONE! And at just under 80% of the preorder target, we're so nearly there. So please pledge, or get others to pledge, or upgrade your pledge. That 30th Biscotti Edition is looking tempting to some...

Enjoy the video, and I will enjoy the typhoon.
