It's a busy month, what with the EU Referendum, Euro 2016 and the Bath festival of motoring, but I know that what's really keeping you awake is what is happening next with The Wrong Story. So let me tell you... editing, editing, editing.
This week I have been locked up in the garret combing through the hardcopy to get it ready for handing over to Unbound. It's unnerving how many times I use the phases 'as if' and 'seems like'. It also seems like I use the word colossal a lot. It crops up seventeen times. It's as if using colossal a colossal number of times... just joking. I am also word-blind now. Combing through 80,000 words in a four or five days has burned out my visual cortex. Who knows what this post actually says?
Anyway, the plan is to be complete by the end of this month and I'm on track. The really exciting news, well for me at least, is that I am now in touch with my Unbound editors. Essentially, this next phase will include a structural edit, a copy edit stage and a proofing stage. The whole process should take about 16 weeks or so. I am so impressed and heartened by the rigour that Unbound are now applying. It feels really good to have an editor working with me. I will keep you up to date on how all this is going, and provide more detail on how the editing process goes.
In the meantime, good luck on the 23rd, and with whichever national team you support, and if you like cars I'll see you by the Bentleys... hmmm, I think I need to edit that.
UPDATE: the aforementioned Bentley...
