How detectives investigate

We’re approaching the longest day of the year and the beans and potatoes are growing (and so are the weeds). We’re also approaching 80 per cent funding for The Trail which is brilliant. THANK YOU! I have been very touched by the breadth and depth of support.

One big difference between The Trail and most crime thrillers is that I didn’t need to research being a detective. The result is a crime thriller with real investigative technique. Detectives start an investigation by asking themselves four questions:

  • What do I know?
  • What are my hypotheses for what happened?
  • What else do I need to know?
  • How can I find the information I need?

These questions, and the developing hypotheses, form part of DCI Castle’s investigation.

Does your best friend like crime thrillers? If just some of you persuaded your best friend to become a supporter of The Trail, then we would reach the finish line!

Please do share the link to The Trail with anyone you think might be interested. http://unbound.com/books/the-trail/

Thank you
