Dear tercio del patrón,
I've not forgotten your steadfast support and valour in the face of slim and terrifying odds, and I have long since been working late nights to ensure that this tercio's faith is repaid in full!
In case any of you missed it, I just thought I'd let you know that I sent the revised manuscript back to Unbound's structural editor for review last Sunday, at circa 11pm AEST:
I managed to stick a post up about it on my Facebook novelist page, but I haven't really blown the bugle since. As you can imagine, I was pretty winded following the last round of rewriting! I could barely bring myself to even type in my smartphone passcode, let alone send anymore updates!
Oh and just FYI: you don't need to be a Facebook member to view my updates on my Facebook Novelist page:
So now it's time to sit back (heh, one day) and wait for the structural editor to read the revised manuscript and get back to me with any last feedback and / or approval. That said, he's already expressed satisfaction with the changes I proposed to make, which were based on my previous discussions with him. But as they say: the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Personally speaking, I'm happy with the work I put into the last rewrite. I honestly didn't think I had another one left in me, but sometimes it's just amazing what can spring out of your head when you're facing punishing time constraints. If the tale wasn't rollicking before, it's certainly rip-roaring, rollicking and rattling now!
Once past the structural edit stage it'll be copy-edit time followed by a last proof-read, before we finally storm the walls of publication which we are so close to breaching. The last two months have been a ride that has been exhilarating, hairy and downright scary, oft gritty and at times none too pretty, but we may have well dragged ourselves across the line with this one.
Thanks so much everyone for your constant messages of support and for keeping the faith! And watch this space for more updates.
