Breaking: the revised manuscript (MS) has just been sent to Unbound’s editorial team!
With the crowdfund achieved so swiftly, we now enter Phase 2, or what I have half-jokingly, half-fearfully referred to in recent days as: Literary Boot-Camp!
I had a chat about my aims and hopes with the assigned UK-based structural editor last week, in which he requested that I also forward him a brief synopsis of each novel, so I’ve sent the following blurbs.
I asked him if I can include maps in ‘The Sheriff’s Catch’ and he told me to send my ideas through, which I’ve also done.
Journey from here?
Structural editor’s aiming to get back to me with a report by 23 June, which will basically be a very long letter of 2-3k words which will include high level and low level feedback. It will include suggestions on how to improve the MS.
I’ll then have a month to implement changes, before returning the revised MS. The aim is to have the structural review wrapped up by 29 July. However, if Editorial think that we need more time to make a proper fist of the structural edit, then Unbound will provide us with more time so that we take as long as is necessary to get the structural edit right. Nothing less than the best for our readers!
Once the structural edit is finalised I then get referred to the copy and line editors. I’ll keep you guys posted of developments every step of the way.
I’d like to thank all patrons for affording me this wonderful opportunity to further my education in creative writing. Again I am absolutely humbled by your belief and backing: simply couldn’t have done it without you all.
