Every day is World Somethingorother Day now, isn't it? But today… today is a good one.
My drive to work this morning saw me overtake wizards, faeries, knights and pirates, all hurrying to school to show off their wonderful and outrageous costumes. And it was putting smiles on faces. World Book Day celebrates authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) reading.
It’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world, and this year marks the 20th anniversary of the event. Terrific work is done to get books under the noses of kids world wide for free, and reading is held up and appreciated in all its glorious colours.
Now, unfortunately our book is not quite at the stage where it can be plonked under those little hooters yet, BUT – it is getting there. And while it is getting there, you are still able to pledge and pre-order your copy, and get your name printed in the book as a supporter.
So to celebrate today's event, we are offering a £5 discount on the Monster Café when you use the code monsters at checkout.
If you've yet to order your copy, or you want a second one, or you would like to gift one to a goblin you know, then that code will work for you all day today. So get cracking and then go pick up another book and read it aloud to anyone that'll listen.
Maybe next year I'll drive past a few Bibs and absolutely not have a little cry or anything.
