Calm Before the Storm

Dear mashheads,

Peel the foil from the cork. Ease it clear from the bottleneck. Cradle the cut glasses and pop the ice cubes from their tray - depending on how you take it. It is nearly time.

As I understand it, The Mash House will be with you very soon. Unbound will have emailed you to confirm your address. Soon, the eBook will be made available to download and you will be sent a link for this. Then, shortly after that, the paperbacks will be distributed to your homes around the world. This is all happening over the next few days.

I know this has been a long time coming! And thank you for supporting me with your pledges and kind messages.

Can I ask a couple of further favours? The success of the book - and my chances of publishing again - would be greatly boosted with a few, simple steps:

  1. When you receive your paperbacks (or eBooks), post photographs of them online! Use the hashtag #TheMashHouse and tag my social media (@afjgillespie) as well. This will allow me to share the images with my followers and increase its visibility.
  2. Visit the novel's goodreads page and leave ratings and reviews. Good, bad or in between, I don't mind. It's the quantity of ratings which people in the publishing industry will notice.
  3. Visit the novel's Amazon page, and post the same rating and review. The more traffic the book gets, the stronger its position will be with Amazon's algorithms. And this can open up all sorts of opportunities.

The novel is not available in bookshops until May 6th, but you will receiver yours before then, as an early subscriber. Don't forget to look for your name in the list of patrons - it's a concrete reminder that without good readers, novels can never flourish.

Many cheers,

Alan x
