I am now nearly halfway into crowdfunding my horror novel with Unbound. There is still a long way to go, but I'm remaining hopeful.
A third of the funding target has been met! So many people have believed in me enough to support my novel and I am so so grateful! Somebody even pledged £400 and bought the right to name a character! It's an incredible feeling to see so much support from friends and loved ones.
It's not all good news however. I'm not really reaching an audience beyond friends and family. Crowdfunding is hard. Super hard. And though I'm getting lots of well wishes and retweets on Twitter, I'm not getting much support on the way of pledges. It's a difficult thing to go through, and makes you doubt yourself. Is my novel no good? Do people not want to read it? Or am I just not advertising enough?
I'm still editing the novel (twelve chapters are now on their way to being finished) and sending out to beta readers, it's going well. So, even if I don't make my funding target I will have a competed manuscript by the end of the time limit. Which is great, but I haven't given up yet. Being published has been my dream since I was eight years old.
If you can tell your friends and colleagues about The Log House it would go a long way in helping the novel get to its target.
I am not giving up.
