The Lifers' Club

Archaeology can be a dirty business by Francis Pryor

Review for The Lifers' Club

I bought this partly out of curiosity, having been a fan of Francis Pryor for many years and crossing paths with him occasionally since his original discovery of Flag Fen. He's always been a brilliant communicator and I was intrigued to see how he handled fiction. I thoroughly recommend The Lifers' Club. It's a genuine page turner but I had to ration myself to make it last. The links between archaeological and criminal investigation are very convincing and the depth of Francis' knowledge of Fen history and landscapes serves and enriches the narrative superbly. And like most roads in the Fens, the plot is full of twists and turns which will take you by surprise just when you think you know where you are heading. I can't wait for the next one to appear!
