Happy Publication Day

Happy publication day to Bim Riz Reni Musa Chimene Varaidzo Sarah Ming Daniel Salena Vera Himesh Sabrina Coco Darren Inua Kieran Vinay L and Nish.

'The Good Immigrant' is available everywhere now, on general release.

I emailed Rachael from Unbound about this project on 14th October 2015. Less than a year later and it's out, in the shops, available, being read, debated, loved, cried over -- all of it. I feel like I couldn't have done it without Bim Riz Reni Musa Chimene Varaidzo Sarah Ming Daniel Salena Vera Himesh Sabrina Coco Darren Inua Kieran Vinay L Nish, or anyone at Unbound. Or my agent Julia.

Or you.

If you're reading this, you pre-ordered the book. If you pre-ordered it in 2015, that means you pre-ordered it before a single word had been written. If you pre-ordered it in 2016, you contributed to the book being nearly funded, thousands of pre-sales and the most hype I could have asked for.

If I look at the email I sent Rachael at Unbound on 14th October 2015, I can tell I had NO IDEA we'd take it this far. It's amazing.

But there's work to be done. I reckon we can make this a bestseller. Tell one friend today, just one friend, one with an itchy book-buying finger, tell them to buy it. Tell them how good it it is. If we all go and tell someone to go buy it, then we'll be a bestseller.

Why is that important?

Well, it helps to get the message about the book out. It feels timely, important, needed. It helps encourage Bim Riz Reni Musa Chimene Varaidzo Sarah Ming Daniel Salena Vera Himesh Sabrina Coco Darren Inua Kieran Vinay L Nish and me to write more. It helps bookshops. It helps books. It helps the case for inclusive books, more representation in books, diverse books.

You've done so much already, this is the last thing I'll ask of you.

Tell your friends: Waterstones, Foyles, all the indie bookshops, they all have the book and they're all primed to sell it.

Thank you. From the bottom of my heart.

Right, let's party now.

all my love,

Nikesh

Am recommending to all on social media and real life. Would events help? Eg in Bradford's beautiful Waterstone's we could organise local actors to do readings from the book (I co-run a theatre company here). It would have a lot of resonance in Bradford.
