Sortition and The End of Politicians in the UK?
Do you want to get informed and inspired by sortition this weekend?
If so, come along to one of the two free events that the Sortition Foundation is organising in Cambridge and London.
- Cambridge, from 7-9pm, on Friday 10th June at Friends Meeting House (12 Jesus Ln, Cambridge, CB5 8BA) Please RSVP here or on Facebook.
- London, from 2-4pm, on Saturday 11th June at The Water Poet (9-11 Folgate St, Spitalfields, London, E1 6BX) Please RSVP here or on Facebook.
G1000s have been held in Belgium and The Netherlands and the Sortition Foundation is aiming to hold one in London and one in Cambridge in late 2016 or early 2017. A truly representative sample of 1000 people will gather, deliberate with each other in a respectful environment, and decide together what is best for their communities. It is a way to do democracy differently.
Come along to find out all about a G1000 and how you can help make a G1000 happen in the UK!
And what about The End of Politicians? Next week I hand the manuscript over to the editorial and production team - if all goes well a few months after that it should be published. So it's almost the last chance to pledge and get your name listed inside it as a supporter!
Thanks
Brett Hennig
