Publication Day !

Praise for The Cartography of Others
“McNamara’s work has a fierce, vital beat, her stories robust yet finely worked,
her voice striking in its confidence and originality. She writes with
sensuous precision and a craft that is equally precise. This is fiction that can
stand up in any company.”

– Hilary Mantel

It's finally time to show off the cover - and Hilary Mantel's generous quote - and tell you that Publication Day is around the corner. The Cartography of Others will be out on 29th May. Edits have been painstakingly thorough and we are thrilled  with the result. Unbound has a fine team of editors! (Thank you for coordinating everything so smoothly Annabel!). And your books will be despatched presto!

So it's done. Many of you who are authors will be familiar with this zombied-out state of thankfulness, relief, rampant fear, sleeplessness and ungoverned love for spring roses and prosecco.

You are invited to the launch at the Betsey Trotwood Pub, Clerkenwell, on Thursday 31st May, 18.30-20.30. There will be words, drinking and a special soprano singing the aria that inspired the opening story, 'Adieu, Mon Doux Rivage'. (R.S.V.P. stromboli27@yahoo.com.)

For European pledgers I'll be doing readings in Rome, Vicenza and Vienna over the summer and autumn. For Sydney friends I'll be over this winter.

Once again, this book would not have been possible without your faith and contribution, for which I am almightily grateful. You have been patient - it has been a very long ride. Special thanks to Stef Pixner and Agnes Marton who were my first writing retreatees chez moi; to Super Patrons Stuart Rosewarne and Maurizio d'Amore; to Ingrid Christensen and Jane Roberts, and Marta Sagui, to Venice-trippers Sylvia Petter and Jimmy K; to grand mobiliser Rachel Chuah-McNamara and my many far-flung friends and family who have been so incredibly generous (I realise postage was pricey!). And thank you thank you THANK YOU to those of you I don't know or know well - apologies if I haven't thanked you via email! - this is essentially how a book must find its wings, through readers who thought this little collection was worth looking into and giving some support. Do spread the word.

Endless gratitude to Hilary Mantel, David Rogers, Cathy Galvin, Tom Vowler, Eric Akoto and Annemarie Neary for your help with such luscious cover comments.

Now let's get promoting.
