Last night a friend made me pitch to 8 strangers. Luckily they hadn't just seen me score 1 out of 10 in the pub quiz round on 'The Beckhams'. (Though I still think I should have got a mark for correctly answering No to the question, "Do you know the name of the Beckhams' youngest child?" So, not exactly full to the brim with confidence, I forgot to get the name of the book into the first 30 seconds - oh, all right, someone had to actually ask me when I'd finished - but then it was fine and three said they would check out my page (I gave them cards with the link on). So far, anyone who has actually done that and got back to me says what a good site it is.
This morning I answered questions about Unbound on K M Lockwood's regular blog post on the SCBWI website. I liked having time to think and write, to celebrate other authors and the concept of Unbound. Afterwards, I had coffee with a friend and fellow author and repeated my mantra that we creative guerillas must stick together... and readers and writers should speak. So, come on, readers, what would you like to say? I'm ready to hear it.
