Cover illustrators

Our book is preparing for take off. While I await the final tweaks, I've been looking again at potential illustrators. So here are three examples each from my current favourites. You've already seen Chris Malbon's bear in an earlier post, so here are another three of his; followed by the hyper-real drawings of Cath Riley and then Joe Wilson. I like their blend of superb technical skill with a modern gothic twist. Please let me know what you think.

Sara Read
 Sara Read says:

Joe Wilson gives dramatic impact through detail and subtle menace but I feel there would always be a graphic novel look to his work and can't see Bera on these shelves (yet, perhaps in another incarnation). The rawness of Cath Riley disturbs me. If that's what you'd like to elicit, perhaps ... I love the depth, and variety, of Chris Malbon's work. Your writing is many-layered and his illustrations reflect this, with a gothic twist to provide enticement to a book that will give readers a memorable experience. I hope that helps. You have a tough decision but trust your instincts and I'm sure you'll get it right x

That's really good input- thanks Sara. The monthly launch meeting happens to be tomorrow where all this will be discussed, especially where Bera "sits" on shelves with its peers. I hope others join in the debate!

No D & M as to why, I don't feel I'm qualified, but every time I look at these I am drawn to the first (Kill List) & the fourth. Sorry, not much help... xxx

I've also had some verbal feedback: visceral repulsion against one of these. That's also really good to know, for obvious reasons. Keep 'em coming!

Ooh, this is rather sensitive.
Actually rather like your 'Unbound' header.
'Ice Bear' chez moi would look quite lovely with strong graphics.
Just trying to join in and always happy to discuss.

Hope meeting on 18th went well, but more importantly to your satisfction. As always, love and support. A.
