Hampshire Writers' Society Guest Talk - January 8th
If you live near Winchester, you might be interested to know that I'll be appearing at the Hampshire Writers' Society as a guest speaker on January 8th. Much of the talk will be old news to anybody who's been following Ten Little Astronauts here on Unbound, but as it's aimed at writers rather than readers some of it will come at the book (and its crowdfunding campaign) from an angle you might not have seen already. I'll be aiming to divide the ten-minute talk roughly 50/50 between what Ten Little Astronauts is and what I did to gather support while it was still funding.
The Hampshire Writers' Society is a great organisation in general, so do consider dropping by even if my relatively short talk isn't enough of an incentive on its own. The main speaker for the evening will be Lucy Courtenay, running a "highly interactive" session on writing an illustrated children's book. The Society also runs monthly competitions (with prizes!) which are a great way of branching out and writing new things if you try and tackle each one (which I've been doing for about a year now).
The meeting starts at 7:30pm on January 8th (with people turning up to chat and get refreshments from 7:00pm), and takes place in the Stripe Theatre of the University of Winchester. If you're planning to turn up I look forward to seeing you there, and if not then perhaps at the Ten Little Astronauts launch event, which I'm still in the process of setting up.
