Flash Fiction Month 2017
July is Flash Fiction Month, and this year I'll be throwing my hat into the ring just as I have for each of the past five consecutive years. Every year I write one story a day for the month of July, and every year I bundle those 31 stories together as an anthology of flash fiction. If you were one of the first 100 supporters of Ten Little Astronauts, you might recall that the prize draw for that milestone was for the first ever copy Robocopout in existence.
It's too early to say what 2017's anthology will be called or what will appear on the cover (though I can say for certain that it will be a yellow object of some kind). However, planning ahead a bit, I think I'll offer the first paperback copy of this one as the prize for a draw when Ten Little Astronauts reaches 175 supporters. The odds of winning might seem rather long at this point, but don't worry: if you've put in a pledge at the Collectable level or above, you can already expect to get the ebooks of all six of my flash fiction anthologies as well as my prehistoric fantasy novel, Face of Glass as part of your regular supporter rewards.
Keeping you updated with a story every single day this month would put an excessive strain or your inbox, so I'll aim to simply list all 31 in a single post at the end. If you'd like to see what I'm working on over the course of July, you might like to check in on either this collection over on deviantART (home of Flash Fiction Month) or this category on my blog. You'll find at least a couple in there already. Depending on when you get this, there may be more.
If you'd like to get a notification whenever a new story becomes available, you can subscribe to my blog by email. Just click the "Follow" button that pops up in the bottom right of the screen. I'll also be posting these to Wattpad if that works for you: I've found their reading app quite handy myself.
Finally, if you know anybody who'd be interested in very short (typically funny) fiction, please do point them towards my work this month. I'm hoping that the effort I'm putting in this July will help draw in a few more supporters for Ten Little Astronauts and ultimately get your book to you that much quicker, so if you can draw any extra attention to what I'm working on then that would mean an awful lot to me. I'll be sharing each story on Facebook and Twitter, so even just sharing/retweeting your favourites could make a tremendous difference: anyone who's similarly taken with them is likely to go looking for more!
