A pocket-sized masterclass on becoming an impactful communicator, nature-first thinker and changemaker in an era of emergency.
Civilisation is in a race between understanding and catastrophe, and the race has never been tighter.
As you read this, nature and our climate are passing dangerous points of no return, and time is running out for others.
There's a lot to worry about, but that's not what this book is for. It's not about whats going wrong.
This book is about becoming an agent of positive change in a world desperately in need of heroes. It's about the ideas, stories and knowledge needed to turn the crisis around.
We live in a strange time: almost everyone on Earth is unaware of the scale and urgency of the biggest emergency in history, and most of those who are don't know what to do.
It's easy to think that the climate and nature crisis is for the scientists, politicians and engineers to solve alone, but this is wrong. We need artists, innovators, writers and communicators everywhere, reimagining how we can live in better harmony with nature.
To accelerate action, we need millions of us to understand the crisis as a whole: how it all fits together, how to talk about it and what must be done to weave nature and balance back into our lives and systems.
Facts alone won't work fast enough. We need emotions, ideas and stories that inspire wonder and motivate everyone to act. We need it to be clear and compelling that a 10-year-old would know what to do.
Tell Me Like I’m Ten will give you everything you need to know about the climate and nature crisis, leaving you energised, enabled and ready to play your part.

Matthew Shribman
Matthew Shribman is a celebrated science communicator and environmentalist. He has taught and trained students in over 150 countries, and his online videos have been viewed by millions. He also gave the first ever TEDx talk from a bathtub, though that’s another story!
This book is the culmination of Matthew’s years of experience communicating about the climate and nature crisis with people young and old all around the world.
The words in this book have been used to activate and empower Olympic athletes, farmers, company executives, national lawmakers and famous actors. They’ve changed the direction of companies, the kits of football players, the speeches of Olympic medallists, the funding strategy of charities and the output of broadcasters.
These words have changed people’s diets, outlooks, political affiliations and life plans. They’ve been used by Matthew’s education-to-action organisation, AimHi Earth, supported by the University of Cambridge, the Eden Project and the UN Environment Programme, on its mission to activate millions of nature-first thinkers.
Matthew holds a 1st Class MChem from the University of Oxford.
- 16th December 2021 Changing minds
Morning all,
I wanted to write an update about how some of the material that's going into this book has been changing some minds over the past couple of weeks.
It's...
- changed the views of a top conservative politician on fertilisers and animal farming.
- encouraged a carbon offset company to stop selling offsets and start selling "contributions", so that polluters can't use them as an…
16th November 2021 You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.
So says Buckminster Fuller.
We need a planet equipped with the truth. And not just the truth, but how it all links together - a strategic map of the whole. From uncertainty and crises come brilliant ideas and solutions from those people who understand why things are going so badly wrong.
The media and education…
31st October 2021 COP26, Frogs & SoyDid you know that there are more frogs on earth than there are grains of sand in the universe?
This is a lie.
However, something that is true is that one of the most effective ways to reduce the global demand for soy is to switch from eating chicken and pork to eating soy? This is one of the things I'll explain in the book. Thank you so much for supporting it - it means the world to have…
