Sour Fruit

By Eli Allison

In a not too distant future, people are split into either Citizens with rights or VOIDs with nothing. Forced to live in the former port, the VOIDs have adapted to the floods; the brutal nature of life outside of society however, is not so easy.

There can be only one

Mini Update

So my Sour Fruit manuscript has now winged its way to my Copy Editor, who will comb and comb and comb until everything is as shiny and glossy as an Afghan hound at Crufts. What do Copy Editors do you ask? They make grammar their bitch.
Before we continue I’d like us to bow our heads for a moment's silence while we think of the poor soul having to check MY spelling, grammar, and punctuation for a 97,000-word document.
Right we all suitable humbled? Good, because now it’s time to crush our opponents…
In honour of reaching this next stage while only freaking out 2 and a half times (personal best). I thought I’d give away some free stuff; competition stylie, because in a way aren’t we all winners? …..
Hell no, there can be only one!

The Prize

A signed first edition paperback of my novel Sour Fruit.
You’ll also get your very own Swag Bag, hand-printed (because I’m 3 sandwiches, a pack of sausages rolls and flask short of a picnic) canvas bag.
Which will include; Postcards designed by me.
A handmade bookmark also made by me.
Plus a few other secret squirrelled lovelies in it, made by… did you guess it?

But that’s not all…
You’ll also get this fabulous Ink and Watercolour drawing… can you guess who made it???
(For legal reasons I have to tell that I made it.)
The artwork* is a cityscape of Kingston, where my book is set.

*Caveat the picture you can see here is a scanned copy, makes it easier to spot things, but the artwork you'll receive if you win IS the original.

This picture is an area called Black Quay, near the very edge of the Humber, it is covered in black mould hence the name. It is sometimes home to the Greenies and other VOIDs who can’t afford to rent above the Flood Line, so they make camp in the shipping containers. Sounds cheerful right, and just think... it could hang above your crapper for all time. Or until e-bay season comes round.

How to win

Find three things in The Black Quay* picture above, that begins with the letter; ‘T’.
Remember that you can click on the picture to make it bigger, because MAGIC.

There are some swish looking pics of it on my Facebook Page,

Or my Instagram (equally swish),

How to enter

Now this bit is easy, just e-mail the answers to, that's it.

Technical stuff

  • The winner will be declared with the traditional 'names scrawled on paper, shoved into a hat and dragged out by me' system.
  • The artwork will be posted as soon as the competition winner has been announced, which will be a week from now, 1st of December, 2017.
  • The Swag Bag and signed book will have to wait until the book has been printed by elves or however Unbound do it… I’m not really sure… probably elves.

Good Luck Pilgrims!
