Title: 'The Food Talent Pipeline: What it means to develop and train young people in food media'
Synopsis: Food media is notorious for being too white, male, and cis — a reflection of the very people who hold institutional and structural power. But what does it mean to shift that structure to be more inclusive? It's not just about changing the folks in the C-suite or replacing editors. Working to uplift young BIPOC, LGBTQ+ people is key to seeing food media truly reflect us. That said, it requires us at the middle to revitalize publications and institutions to help support the skills and development of young folks better while also dismantling he systemic issues at play that squash creativity, diversity, and ingenuity.
